Hi! I’m Layla Knight, and I’m a Visual Communication Design major from Long Island, NY, with a minor in Photography. Growing up, I couldn’t imagine my life without any form of art in it, which drew me to design. It’s been a long journey, but that’s the fun part! I enjoy collaborating with my fellow designers to produce simple yet effective designs. As of now, my dream career is working in the editorial field along with music, such as designing album covers. Rooted In Beauty is a brand that strives to uplift, inspire, and educate both Black and non-Black people on natural/textured hair. The idea is to curate a platform people can visit to learn and grow. It provides a safe space for marginalized groups to learn how to express themselves through their hair by providing access to multiple resources.
